The lion hook is currently a free-hanging hook with a 22mm opening on the steel, we can also do this with a 40mm opening. We also have an applicator pole, which is 2.5m long and allows you to erect the net with the hooks, from ground level. These hooks are idea for decking and mezzanine floors!

Used to allow the erection of EN1263-1, type S safety nets to the requirements of EN 1263-2, suspended directly from the steel frame as close as possible below the working level. The Lion-Hook is designed to make the installation of safety nets quicker and easier and safer in Portal framed buildings, Mezzanine Floors, Metal Decking and further I beam steel applications!

Lion-Hook is designed to be used on C and I section steel beams where it physically hooks onto the lower flange of the steelwork. The Lion-Hook means that it can be installed by using only one hand, and also has the advantage of being able to locate securely on narrow beams and retain its inherent benefits.

Form: The device is a pre-formed, steel unit. The Lion-Hook is fed onto the border rope of the safety net and then connected by the rigger to the lower flange of the I- beam steel using their hand.  Lion-Hook is typically used within metal decking and precast concrete floors

Limitations of use:

  • At all times, safety nets must be installed in line with the requirements of EN1263/2 and the guidelines, laid out by FASET.
  • The steelwork must be capable of taking a 6kN load at 45º.
  • The Lion-Hook can only be attached to the lower flange of the I section or C section steels.
  • The Lion-Hook must always be fitted to the outer flange of the steel in such a way that the self weight of the net is drawing it into the steel.
  • The safety net must be attached on all four sides, unless eaves bagging techniques are employed.
  • The Lion-Hook is not suitable for use on extreme curved roofs such as barrel vaults.
  • Lion-Hook cannot be used on circular sections.
  • The Lion-Hook can be used on a flange thickness of between 8mm – 25mm, but at NO times to be used on flange thicknesses of less than 8mm thick!

DO NOT USE DAMAGED OR PREVIOUSLY LOADED LION-HOOKS. These Lion Hooks have been tested to EN1263-2 to withstand a 6Kn pull at 45º.

Installation:

  • Apply the safety net into the hooks of the Lion – Hook (including 12mm Polysteel border rope)  If you need to tension the nets, under-roll the safety nets before placing it into the Lion-Hook.
  • Starting at corner 2 (see erection diagrams), Offer the Lion-Hook and safety net to the steel beam, in such a way that the Upper U Section of the hook is locate on the lower flange.
  • Repeating the above process, offer another Lion-Hook  to the adjacent beam on SIDE A, (corner 1-see erection diagram)
  • Repeat the above process along side A (see erection diagrams), locating the Lion-Hook at 1.5 meter  centres.
  • Repeat the above process along side B (see erection diagrams), locating the Lion-Hook at 1.5 meter centres.
  • The final 2 sides may require gathering to achieve a 10% sag. The Lion-Hook can accommodate approx. 2m of gathered net.  ALWAYS ensure the border rope is contained within the Hooks.
  • FASET guidelines on waisting gaps should always be followed.
  • Once the first bay is complete, the operation is repeated in the adjacent bay.  When working to the shared beam, feed the Lion-Hook and net beneath the already rigged net, staggering the Lion-Hook’s.
  • Once the net is fully rigged and before moving to the next net, ensure all Lion-Hooks are properly located.

Important! When using the Lion-Hook at the perimeter of buildings or above voids and openings, We recommend that you cable tie the Lion-Hook to the border rope and mesh.
